World Intellectual Property Day: 26 April
World Intellectual Property Day is
celebrated every year on 26 April worldwide. World Intellectual Property Day is
celebrated to spread awareness about the role of intellectual property rights
(patents, trademarks, industrial design, copyright) in promoting innovation and
creativity. Development and application of international norms and standards
for intellectual property, protection is a fundamental part of the activities of
this organization. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) works
closely with different government agencies, non-governmental organizations,
community groups and individuals to organize various programs and activities to
promote this day.
India ranks 40 out of 53 global economies in the latest annual edition of the recently released International Intellectual Property Index. The US Chamber of Commerce Global Innovation Policy Centre Index evaluates intellectual property rights in 53 global economies, ranging from patent and copyright policies to commercialization of IP assets and ratification of international treaties.
Background
• In October 1999, the General Assembly
of WIPO approved the idea of declaring
a special day as World Intellectual Property Day.
• In the year 2000, WIPO decided to
celebrate 26 April as the annual World Intellectual Property Day and bridge
the perceived gap between intellectual property as a business / legal concept
on this day and explain its importance in people's lives.
• The date of 26 April was chosen because the World Intellectual Property Organization was established on this day in the year 1970.
About World Intellectual Property Organization
It is one of the oldest agencies of the United Nations. WIPO is one of the 15 specialized agencies of the United Nations. It was established on 14 July 1967. It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. WIPO acts as a reliable global reference source for intellectual property information. India is a member of WIPO.
UAE banned travel to India from Sunday due to the bad condition of Covid-19
The United Arab Emirates has banned travel from India for ten days from 25 April 2021 in view of the worsening condition of the coronavirus. The travel ban will come into effect from 11: 59 minutes on Saturday 24 April and will be reviewed after ten days. In view of the increasing cases of Coronavirus infection in India, many countries have banned travel from India even before UEA.

Every year on 25 April, World Malaria
Day is celebrated all over the world. The main objective of World Malaria Day
is to make people aware and protect their lives from malaria. This day is
celebrated to attract attention, prevention, and control of serious diseases like
malaria. The objective of celebrating World Malaria Day each year recognizes
worldwide efforts to control malaria. Globally, 3.3 billion people are at risk of
malaria in a total of 106 countries.
This year, the theme of World Malaria Day is Reaching the Zero Malaria Target. World Malaria Day was celebrated for the first time on 25 April 2008. This day was started by UNICEF to celebrate. The reason behind celebrating this is that every year many people die from this disease all over the world, but even today there is no awareness about it. India has targeted to eradicate malaria by the year 2030, while by 2027 the entire country will be made malaria-free. For this, many projects are also being run at the government level.

Indo-French navies begin maneuvers in the Arabian Sea
The navies of India and France began a three-day exercise in the Arabian Sea on Sunday. India, Singapore tie-up to promote tech start-ups
India has tied up with Singapore to promote tech-based start-ups.
